The Nature of Duality

What’s all the Fuss?…Or Not

While the nature of duality is a pain in our existence, we have to learn to balance these things. But first, it is important to understand the nature of why it exists. Therefore, we seek to comprehend its complexities and learn how to use this principal to work for our advantage.

The nature of duality can be found throughout all sacred texts as well as universal principals. In sacred texts we found the duality represented in the nature of Gods and men. Here are a few examples:

  1. Enki and Enlil
  2. Osiris and Seth
  3. Shiva and Vishnu
  4. Eve and Lillith
  5. Michael and Samael
  6. Esther and Jezebel
  7. Jacob and Esau
  8. Jesus and Lucifer
  9. Zeus and Poseidon
  10. Lakshmi and Kali

Further examples of the nature of duality is found in hermetic principals such as:

The Principal of Correspondence

The Principal of Polarity

The Principal of Rhythm

The Principal of Gender

We therefore understand that the nature of duality is a universal principal that cannot be removed as it provides balance. However, as we evolve spiritually from understanding the nature of duality, we use the principal to transmute our reality.

Ever laugh so hard that it eventually turns into sobbing? Both of these emotions; joy and sorrow lie in the opposite side of the emotional spectrum, and yet can be easily interchangeable in a moment’s notice.~ Sophie

Thus we show how fragile the psyche truly is emphasizing the popular phrase “It’s a thin line between love and hate”. The nature of duality was necessary for a childlike species to understand what is good for them, and what is not in the beginning stages of growth. Just as a child, who learns “yes” and “no” to define roles that are helpful or not, it was also necessary for the beginning of ones journey. Once maturity has been acquired, thus the introductions of “maybe” or “possibly” enters into the psyche. By these means we elevate above the tenants of “absolutes” dissolving the perception of duality and merging the polarities to our advantage.

When we are children, we are told by our parents not to touch the stove as it it hot. The child receives these instructions as “law” for their highest good. The highest good at the time is in regards to the safety of the child ofcourse; not as an unlawful principal. The child however, is unaware that this statute is simply temporary.

As the child grows, the instructions becomes more relaxed as in “you can make a hot dog, but cannot fry chicken”. The child during this time comprehends such functions of the stove, but the knowledge is still limited. Thus introducing a new law.

As the child starts to mature, they learn and master the functions of the stove and then become void of the law altogether. The master has free range over the kitchen, and is allowed to create as they choose without the dangers of harming themselves. ~ Sophie

The nature of duality was necessary in the development of consciousness over time. It was also necessary to provide balance in the Universe. With this understanding, the nature of good vs evil depends upon the individuals level of consciousness. One must re-evaluate through observation and experience ones own individual journey of karma and dharma to figure out. Remember that man can only evolve when faced with opposition because it forces the mind to develop solutions that were previously not available. If one never faces opposition, one does not evolve. To overcome the opposition, one must ask oneself “what is the lesson”? For every problem lies a solution. One must search for the solution, then share the experience to others. Then and only then, will you discover the truth behind the nature of God. That all things work for our ultimate good when we learn to transmute the energy.
